Troubleshooting

  The Mac can’t see my iPhone

  Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network, with Local Network permission granted to PDFlick on the iPhone (Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network). The Mac must also accept the connection when prompted — it will not pair silently.

  I can’t edit the text on a scanned page

  A scan is a photo: the words are pixels, not text. Tap Read Text to run on-device OCR first, then edit the recognized text. Recognition quality depends on focus, lighting and contrast — rescan with better light if results are poor.

  My Word or Excel export looks off

  Conversions are best-effort reconstructions of a page’s layout. Multi-column layouts, unusual fonts and heavily-designed pages are the hardest cases. For a faithful visual copy instead, use PDF to Images.

  Is my redaction actually safe?

  Yes — the Redact tool removes the underlying content rather than covering it. Drawing a black rectangle with the shape tool does not: the original text still sits underneath. Always use Redact for sensitive material, then reopen the saved file to confirm.

  I lost changes to a document

  PDFlick writes to your device only, so there is no cloud copy to restore from and we cannot recover files for you. Use your regular device backup (iCloud Backup or Time Machine) and keep an original before running destructive operations.
