Privacy Policy | PDFlick

This policy explains what PDFlick (“the app”, “we”) does — and, more to the point, does not do — with your information. It applies to the PDFlick app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and to this website.

The short version

We collect nothing. PDFlick has no backend service, no user accounts and no analytics SDK.
Your documents stay on your device. Every PDF operation runs locally.
We cannot see your files, your file names, your usage, or anything else.
There is no advertising and no data is sold, shared or brokered, because none is gathered.

Your documents

Every operation PDFlick performs — editing, annotating, signing, merging, splitting, compressing, converting, OCR, protection, redaction and scanning — is executed on your device using Apple frameworks (PDFKit, Core Graphics, Core Text, Vision, AVFoundation). Documents are never uploaded, mirrored, queued for server processing or transmitted to us in any form.

Files you create or import live in the app’s own storage on your device, and in whatever location you choose when you export or save. Deleting the app removes its stored library along with it.

Information we do not collect

To be explicit, PDFlick does not collect:

Names, email addresses, phone numbers or any other contact details
Account credentials — there are no accounts
Document contents, file names, page counts or metadata
Usage analytics, event telemetry, session recordings or crash-attached user data
Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints or location data

Device permissions

PDFlick is sandboxed with the narrowest entitlements that let it work. Each permission is requested only when a feature needs it, and is used only for that feature:

Camera — to scan pages with Scan to PDF. Frames are processed on device and never streamed to us.
Photo library — to import images you pick for Image to PDF.
Files / user-selected files — to open and save the documents you choose.
Printing — to send a document to a printer you select.
Local networking — solely for the iPhone-to-Mac scanner link described below.

You can revoke any of these at any time in system Settings; the related feature simply stops working.

The iPhone ↔ Mac scanner link

PDFlick can use your iPhone as a scanner for your Mac. This connection is direct, device-to-device, over your own local network using Apple’s MultipeerConnectivity framework. Specifically:

No Apple Account, cloud relay or server of ours is involved.
Encryption is required for the connection.
The Mac shows the connecting device by name and must accept each connection by hand.
Only the live viewfinder preview and the pages you capture are sent, and only to the paired Mac.

On-device intelligence

Text recognition (OCR), document edge detection and text segmentation run locally through Apple’s Vision framework. No image or recognized text is sent off the device for processing, and no third-party AI service is used.

Third parties

PDFlick ships with no third-party SDKs, no package dependencies and no embedded trackers — it uses Apple frameworks only. If you download the app from the App Store, Apple’s own collection of purchase and download information is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, not this one. We receive only anonymous, aggregated App Store sales reports from Apple, which cannot identify you.

This website

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts, and asks for no personal information. If you email us, we receive whatever you put in that email and keep it only as long as needed to answer you.

Children

PDFlick is safe for all ages precisely because it gathers nothing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included, because we do not collect personal information at all.

Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Your documents are already entirely under your own control on your own device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. A change that materially affects how the app handles your information would also be noted in the app’s release notes.
