How to convert a PDF to an editable Word document

On iPhone & iPad

Open the PDF and tap PDF to Word.
PDFlick rebuilds the text as paragraphs in a .docx.
Save the file, or open it straight into Word or Pages.

On Mac

Open the document and choose PDF to Word.
Save the .docx with ⌘S, then Reveal in Finder.

What makes it different

Output is a real .docx with editable paragraphs, not a page image dropped into a document.
Simple, single-column, text-based PDFs convert most faithfully.
Multi-column layouts, complex tables and heavily designed pages are the hardest cases and usually need tidying.
Scanned pages must be run through OCR first, since there is no text to reconstruct from.

Why does my converted document look different from the PDF?

Converting to Word is a reconstruction, not a copy — a PDF describes positioned glyphs, while a Word file describes flowing paragraphs. Complex layouts, unusual fonts and tables are where the two models diverge most. For a visually faithful copy instead, use PDF to Images.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Run OCR / Searchable first so the page has recognized text, then convert. Accuracy depends on the quality of the scan.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Conversion runs entirely on your device.
